...OF THE ESTEEMED LADY TIFA LOCKHART (UN: 7THHEAVEN), FIRST OF THEIR NAME, HAILING FROM THE REALM OF FFVII, RESIDING, AT PRESENT, IN THE GRAND CRESENT. UNWED.
Oh. I like the Swallow's Sanctum. I am a wizard as well as a brewer. There is more to both of us besides being women who have run businesses. I would love it if more people wanted to "swallow" our wares but we may also be swallowing our frustration at the attitudes of the public here.
I haven't run into trouble yet but I'm expecting it. Know you have my support.
Exactly, I thought it might be a good play on words for exactly that while also having a good meaning. Back home, swallows often symbolize travelers, safe journeys, and good luck. We're all kind of travelers here, flocking together for safety, I like to think that this bar can be a safe place to land as it were?
The DD was that for travelers. It was just that kind of place. We had rooms for those who didn't want to risk the moors at night.
That was my intention. We know that the locals will treat us oddly. Especially if we try to slip into habits from wherever we called home. It is part of why I wanted the pub.
A place where we can relax from these rules that aren't our own.
I think we need a location. I'm fond of the Naval District but we may wish to look at the Pleasure Quarter. The fact I know there are hm, sex dens? That can help mask some activities for us.
I also wonder if we need additional staff? I will be able to brew the beer and help sling drinks when we're open. We may also consider hiring a waitress or two as well as an actual person to provide security. I do not want to accidentally burn the pub down and my fighting skills are a mixed bag outside of magic.
Outside the Naval Quarter might be best, considering The Trident might consider us competition, I don't want the locals getting weird ideas. Pleasure Quarter might be loose enough to turn a blind eye to us.
While I can sling magic some, my skills are mostly in hand to hand combat. I'm used to running the my bar solo, but if you think business will be enough to need more, then I see no harm in hiring waitresses.
I can work a bar, make and sling drinks, also handle rowdier customers.
I used a fry pan. It was a heavy iron thing. No one messes with my pub or patrons.
There was a war. I ended up married to a wizard which is how I learned magic. He was not afraid to share knowledge or what he had to help me become who I am now. I say we just keep it us two. If we have to hire on a man to act as our "front" for the locals then we pick someone who knows we're the ones in charge.
A Remington Steed situation.
I never had to do "mixed drinks". We just served beer, wine, and ale. I wouldn't say no to adding more skills but I think I'll be busy enough brewing beer.
When I was young a man who's trained some of the best fighters in the world saw me, saw potential in me, so he took me under his wing. Everyone knew not to mess with my bar because I wasn't someone to mess with.
I like that, just us. I can't brew things but I can run a bar, mix drinks, and play bouncer when we need.
Maybe if the locals let up a little on their sexism we can form some trade deals for other kinds of alcohol and drink for mixing?
Then we are both lucky. We were seen as great before it was polished to a shine.
Yes. I like that.
I will say the idea of having a meeting room for "just the displaced" was suggested to me a a friend. He offered it as an idea. A room that is set aside for "rent" so that we can just act as if we are serving everyone equally. The idea has merit as we can't afford to deny service based on place of origin.
Allow our bunch to have a place to duck into to exchange information that can't be monitored while the pub itself is open to all.
Other than that? A pub run by us. Unless we start serving food we don't need a third employee on staff. Even then I can cook well enough to cover that neatly./big>
Then at some point perhaps we should meet to properly hash out ideas. Until then I will work towards getting the business license. At this point we just need time.

Sounds perfect! I can cook as well, though nothing very fancy, we didn't have much in the slums.
